Next Meeting of the OCCC

The OCCC has meetings during the fall and spring quarters of each year. Our chair is selected each year at the fall meeting and presides over the following spring and fall meetings. Here is the general template for the quarterly meetings: OCCC meeting template

Next Meeting

Date/Time: Friday October 18th 2013, 9:00AM
Location: SWOCC (Coos Bay).

(Please email the host to confirm your attendance for meal planning. Please specify if you require a vegetarian meal.)
If you are planning to arrive Thursday evening, you can get reduced hotel rates at the Red Lion Hotel (541) 267-4141 or The Mill Casino Hotel (541) 756-8800 or (800) 953-4800. Just mention that you are attending a meeting at Southwestern Oregon Community College to get the reduced rate. Park in any of the three campus parking lots (see the Campus Map).

9:00- 9:15: Introductions, approve the minutes of the previous meeting

9:15-10:30: News from the colleges (round table discussion)

BREAK

10:45-11:30: Group topics (submit topics to Mitch Fry)

• Discuss a more formal process for course number requests using the Wiki; here is a trial balloon proposal:
  • Program proposing a class adds a dated entry into a "New course number" wiki page at least 3(?) months before the meeting where it will be voted on.
  • Each new entry will have a discussion page on the wiki for interested persons to post comments prior to the meeting
  • The proposing program will send out a notice via the occclistserver that they have posted a new course number proposal
  • Final discussion will happen at the next meeting (if the 3(?) month comment period has been meet)
• Course number request from John Blackwood UCC
• Initial discussion on the possibility of an ASOT-CS

11:30-12:00: OCCC business:

• set next meeting time & location
• selection of next chair & secretary (this is a suggestion)
• David Swenson award committee
• group photo

12:00: Lunch

• Lunch topic (?)

1:00-3:00(?) Afternoon CIS and CS breakout discussions

• CS: transfer course descriptions and outcomes
• CIS: CIS group discussion topics (?)
• MSSE: EO, OIT, SO, WOU workgroup discussion (just an update as there is a meeting at SOU next week)
