Mobile Application Development
Proposed course description
This class gives a broad exposure to application development on mobile platforms. Flavor for this class is the Android family of devices including tablets and smartphones. We start at the hardware level and work our way through the Java language building a spectrum of basic applications ranging from GPS mapping, media players, animation, and communication. We will also be touching on publishing your new app to the market. The starting point for application development begins here.
Proposed course outcomes (3-5 outcomes)
- Students will be able to apply general programming knowledge in the field of developing mobile applications.
- Students will be able to identify specific requirements, possibilities and challenges when developing for a mobile context.
- Students will be able to plan and carry out basic mobile application design work including developing a prototype that can be evaluated with a specified user group.
- Students will be able to demonstrate practical skills and knowledge to construct basic high-quality software for a mobile application using Java programming and XML structure
- Students will be able to work effectively as a member of a team to meet project milestones
