Intro to Information Systems and Programming
Proposed course description
Covers evaluation, selection and application of computer technology to solve practical problems in web page design, database design, networking and programming. Addresses security and ethical issues associated with technology.
Proposed course outcomes (3-5 outcomes)
- On completion of the course, students will be able to apply logic, business rules, and entity relationship diagrams to design databases.
- On completion of the course, students will be able to create web sites using current HTML and CSS standards.
- On completion of the course, students will be able to design a basic home wireless network and business network while utilizing current wireless security.
- On completion of the course, students will be able to solve simple quantitative and qualitative problems using computer programming.
- On completion of the course, students will be able to install and manage operating systems and applications.
- On completion of the course, students will be able to weigh security issues related to technology including viruses and spyware.
- On completion of the course, students will be able to identify ethical issues relating to the IT professional.
