Next Meeting of the OCCC

The OCCC has meetings during the fall and spring quarters of each year. Our chair is selected each year at the fall meeting and presides over the following spring and fall meetings. Here is the general template for the quarterly meetings OCCC meeting template

Morning items:

Discuss testing - taught in first year - and what standard is for that. "Chemeketa indicated they were using BlueJ and JUnit, but there wasn't any consensus on whether the rest of us would do that or what." (Michal Young, Jim Allen - UO)

11am-12noon: "Programs of Study", federal Perkins funding, and the upcoming impacts on both secondary schools and community colleges (the focus is CTE programs such as IS/IT) - Tom Thompson Specialist, Industrial and Engineering Systems Office of Educational Improvement and Innovation Oregon Department of Education

Afternoon items:

Question on appropriate CIS course number for Web Technician - Could 187I be used? (PCC has an existing course with the number 287I on Web Server Administration.) PCC Web Technician Course Description: Surveys all technical aspects of an organization's website administration including: upgrading and maintaining web server software configuration, Internet connections, file transfers, e-mail notifications, and security systems. Investigates web system logs, web content backup strategies, and issue of web user accessibility and web site performance. Linux and Windows server operating system installation, configuration, and management in a virtual environment will be required. Command line commands and GUI tools will be used to organize, manage, and maintain the file system and web server software. (Frank Roberts, Scott Quinn - PCC)

Logistics

Jim (jallen@cs.uoregon.edu) needs to know how many vehicles you will be taking and the names to put on the parking permits. A map of the UO is at http://map.uoregon.edu. When you come to campus, stop at the information kiosk just up 13th from Agate street and he will have a parking permit for you along with instructions about where to find a spot. If you need to change the parking arrangements on the morning of the 22nd please call Jan at 541-356-1375.

The meeting will be in Deschutes Hall in room 220. Deschutes is right next to the information kiosk on 13th street.
